1) Paint-Pan Liner
You won’t have to bother washing your paint pan if you line it with heavy-duty tin foil before using it. This trick is especially helpful if you’re painting with different colours – for each new hue, throw away the old foil (after pouring excess paint back into the can) and put in a fresh sheet, moulding it to the inside of the pan.
2) Leftover Paint Storage
For quick and easy touch-ups, transfer leftover paint from large cans to small airtight resealable tubs. Make sure to label the container and note the colour and the room where the paint was used.
3) Painting around door knobs
Protect door knobs from paint by covering them with tin foil. The foil moulds to the shape of the handle and stays in place until you move it.
4) Keep Paint Tins Clean
Place a wide rubber band across the opening to your paint can so you can rub the brush off on it and avoid drips. When you are done, wipe it off, remove it and let it dry for the next time. You can easily peel the dried paint off and you’re ready to go again.
